What do I need?

You need to download and install specialized software for uploading and publishing your photos to Gallery. For Macs running OS X, this software is a plugin (i.e. a software enhancement) called iPhotoToGallery for Apple's iPhoto software (iPhoto is pre-installed on all Macs running OS X). For Windows, this software is called Gallery Remote (download the Win32.VM file).

You'll also need to have an account created on the NetMusician server. Please contact us to have one setup. The username and password used for this service will be the same you use for your other accounts hosted on NetMusician.

Publishing your photos

Macintosh

Any photos you wish to publish must be JPEG (.jpg) formatted. If your photos are already in JPEG format, skip to the next set of instructions below. If your photos are in a different format, you can use iPhoto to export the photos as JPEG files by following these instructions:

  1. From the Share menu in iPhoto 5 (included with iLife '05) or the File menu in earlier versions of iPhoto, select Export... .

  2. In the Export Photos dialog box, select the File Export tab and from the pull-down menu next to "Format:", select JPG.

  3. Click the Export button, and on the sheet that drops down, select a location to export your photos to, then click OK.

  4. Back in iPhoto, create a new album and then drag the folder containing your newly exported JPEG files onto this new album. iPhoto will reimport the files as JPEGs, and you can proceed with the publishing instructions below (skip to step 2).

Once you have JPEG files of the pictures you wish to publish, proceed with the following instructions:

  1. Open iPhoto and create an album of the photos you wish to publish.

  2. Select your album, make sure no individual pictures in your album are highlighted, and from the Share menu (iPhoto 5) or the File menu (earlier versions of iPhoto), select Export... .

  3. Select the Gallery tab. If you do not see this tab, you may not have iPhotoToGallery installed (see "What Do I Need?" above).

  6. Your album name should automatically appear in the pull-down menu next to "Add to album:". If you have more than one album, select the album you wish to upload your photos to.

  7. If you have created captions for your pictures, make sure that the Export titles and comments option is checked.

  8. Click Export.

  9. After your photos have been uploaded, you should be able to access them in a web browser by going to:

    http://yourdomainname.com/gallery

Substitute your website's domain name for yourdomainname.com.

  10. To caption, rearrange, or make any further changes to the way your photo gallery appears, visit your gallery via the URL printed within step 9, login via the login icon located at the top right hand corner, and use the pull-down menus located beneath the relevant picture within your gallery. To create additional photo galleries, repeat steps 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 above.

Windows
